I was given the opportunity to make a news backpacking segment on assignment for the Colorado Media School. I used this chance to report on the passing of an animal at the Denver Zoo that had been special to me since my childhood.
The first time I met Bob, I was only 4 or 5 years old. I was entranced by this enormous turtle. I made it a point to always visit Bob when I would go to the zoo and spend a long time sitting next to his tank. Bob had a personality that meant a lot many zoo patrons.
Bob was estimated to be nearly 80 years old at the time of his death. I want to assume he was happy with his 27 year stay in the Tropical Discovery exhibit.
